Reduce, Re-use, Recycle

We are going to watch a fun clip to help us learn about the 3 Rs – Reduce, Re-use and Recycle.

You will need your Inquiry books and a pen or pencil so you can take notes while we watch.

Now that we’ve watched the clip, let’s discuss! What did you learn?

  • We need to recycle or the environment will go bad – Oscar
  • The 3 R words are recycle, reduce and re-use – Nikhil 3
  • We need to look after our environment – Shykeena
  • We can pick up rubbish to help the environment – Jada
  • Plastic bottles, paper and cans can go in recycle bins – Lency
  • If we destroy our environment, we are destroying everything that depends on it
  • We should change our light bulbs to ones that use less energy – Khang
  • Don’t waste water and when you are leaving a room turn off the lights – Nikhil 4
  • Hurting the environment kills animals – Tyrese

Now it is time to get into your Inquiry groups to work on an action plan for helping our environment. I’m looking forward to seeing your finished work 🙂

Think before you share!

Today we are learning about being safe on the internet and why it’s important to think carefully before we post anything online.

This will help us to know what is OK to post on our classroom blogs, chat in online games and other social media. It will also help us to know what is NOT OK to post!

Let’s watch this video together…

Now we will watch the video again and take some notes to help us remember what important information it told us.

Animal research

Good morning Room 2, welcome to week 4! We are kicking off our week with Inquiry. You are going to work in groups to research an animal or group of animals. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Find 1-2 people to work with.
  2. Choose an animal or group of animals you want to research.
  3. Write down a list of questions (at least 5!) that you want to know about your topic.
  4. Use our classroom library books and the laptops to find the answers.

Here are some websites that might help you:

Remember to write down your information. You will need it later in the week to create a poster.

Good luck!

Bugs Alive!

On Friday the 15th of April, the grade 3/4 students travelled by bus to the Melbourne Museum and IMAX theatre. We had a fantastic day looking at different bugs, playing on the playground and watching Flight of the Butterflies in 3D. Upon our return, the students were challenged to write something interesting about their day. Here is some of their work:

Darkness was all around me. Light suddenly appeared then butterflies were coming towards me with their big wings. It was amazing. Everyone in their seats reached out and tried to catch a butterfly. But every time they tried, they caught nothing.

No way, is that a real spider there? I went closer to look if it was real or not and I saw that it wasn’t moving. I said, “naughty spiders, you tricked me!” I went to see the other spiders and I saw spiders the colours of brown and black.
